Ng Kin Foong conducted an excellent "Public Speaking for Beginners Workshop" workshop on 28-Jan-2016 at Tampines Changkat CC #01-03. Talk was attended by about 30 participant. As part of workshop, I drafted a 5 minute speech on topic "How big is universe?"

My today topic is "How big is universe ?". Contrary to Kin, I am religious person. While talking about religion, my 8 year son, asked "How bog is this world?."
Truly speaking, most of us do not think such question and I too had not explored earlier. I was preparing myself to answer my son question later time and i was astonished to know facts. Same knowledge I am going to share with you today.
Our planet is part of solar systems. our sun is an average size of on of start we see blinking in sky. Our galaxy, Milky way, have around 100 billion such starts !
Now, how many such galaxy are ? An conservative estimate is - 10 billion galaxies ! To calculate total number of starts, we need to multiply 10 billions times 100 billions - and result will be 1 billion trillion starts !! Twenty one zeroes after One ! This is a conservative estimate.
Now we have some idea about number. Let us think about distance. Sun light takes 8 minutes and 20 seconds, that is 500 seconds, to reach on earth. Compare this to out nearest bright sky body moon. It take just 1.3 seconds. And light from nearest star (Alpha Centauri ) takes 4.3 years to reach us ! let us not think about distance of other 1 billion trillion starts !
